At request, I'm uploading this unforgettable interpretation by Al Bowlly, one of the greatest British artists ever. He was born in Mozambique and made about 1,000 recordings between 1927 and 1941. This one was made for Decca on April 9th, 1934. He was accompanied by Monia Liter, an equally prolific Ukrainian-born British pianist, conductor and arranger.

on September 11th 1927, Al made his first solo recording with full label credit. This was ''Say, Mister! Have You Met Rosie's Sister?'' for Hommochord, and was accompanied by his own uke and Edgar Adeler at the piano.
The photo shows an early cartoonist's impression of Al.
In the next part, I'll be sharing Al Bowlly's first British recording when he arrived in London.

A really good quality film of an early Roy Fox band circa 1932 playing a comedy number of the day, It Ain't No Fault of Mine. I think the tall chap sharing the vocal with Nat Gonella is Jim Easton. Joe Ferrie is on trombone and Al Bowlly on guitar
